Christian Louboutin recently worked with the Senegalese women from La Maison Rose (a charity started by his friend Valérie Schlumberger that financially aids vulnerable women and trains them as embroiderers) and designed the colorful Africaba Tote, featuring his own logo against a backdrop of African prints and colors.
Through the bags, Louboutin wanted to reflect the beauty of African fabrics and synthesize the African heritage with French craftsmanship.
10 per cent proceeds from the sale of the bag will benefit the charity. The soft-bodied bags include red handles, colorful beads and brand’s trademark spikes. The Africaba bags are priced at $1250 and can be purchased at christianlouboutin.com
