Ace designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla made their debut at LFW with extravaganza “JAWANI JANEMAAN”. A collection full of fun and power with a modern twist to retro hippie couture was the opening highlight for the night. The designer duo presented 70’s and 80’s glam disco with 120 garments.
Known as masters of ‘revival and reinvention’, the duo converted Chikankari, zardosi, and mirror work into their signature style and presented it with power in their silhouettes. The designers created nine looks for the show which flowed with great immense on the ramp.
As they portrayed retro era through clothes, so did the backdrop, audience was taken back in time with 12 shiny mirror balls on the ceiling; multi-colored spotlights kept the tempo of the show with models swinging on retro numbers like Raat Baki Baat Baki’, ‘Ramba ho’ and many more.
Super model, Jessie Randhawa swung on to the ramp to the beat of “Aaj Ki Raat” wearing a glittering, petalled, layered, ruffled, organza gown.
The duo known for their bridal wear showcased a collection for modern divas and their free spirit. Gowns with intricate resham thread work made its presence felt. Saris draped on the model had appliqué and swarozki crystals, gowns were paired up with butterfly capes and long sleeves.
Chikankari work got molded in a new form with sparkling swarozki crystals and sequins.
Nextly, entered the Golden Army with 50 models walking down the ramp with golden masks on with different silhouettes dancing on the hit number “JAWANI JANEMAN”. The golden parade made the audience go down the memory lane to remember Prabeen Babi’s golden catsuit in the song.
The designers mix matched the fabrics in an innovative way like organza played its part with net or duchess satin. An interesting color palette worked out for the line from sedate white, neutrals to off white, cream, beige, ash gray along with hints of bright blue.
